Photo's from recent dates:

The Pop Rocks did a mini-tour of Lincoln Nebraska's country clubs late July 2008- Hillcrest, The Knolls and Wilderness Ridge. Hillcrest and The Knolls were after-the-golf-tournament dances, and Wilderness Ridge was a wedding dance. Both of the parties at Hillcrest and The Knolls were great fun. Friday at Hillcrest had to be pushed indoors due to the threat of wet weather, but as hot as it was, it was probably for the best. Saturday they played outside and it was lots of fun, but man, it was HOT!

Either the neighbors south of The Knolls were gone for some reason (that's what I think), or they really liked the band (that's what the band guys think) because in past years, the police have always arrived promptly at 11 PM to shut down the party. This year The Pop Rocks got to play until after midnight! It may have helped that new Cornhusker football coaches Bo and Carl Pelini were there- Carl even got up and sang "Margaritaville" with the band! The police wouldn't dare shut that down early.

The following Saturday at Wilderness Ridge was an extra special occasion. It was the wedding reception and dance for Alan Ashelford's son and his lovely new bride. Alan is one of Lincoln's premier live sound technicians and also a darned good keyboard player, and was the sound-guy for One More Time for a bunch of years when Tony Hillhouse, James Fairchild and Ed Wyatt were all in the band. In addition to that, Pat McKeen was in a band with Alan on keyboards years ago, so the band guys were really happy to be able to play for them. The night got even more memorable when Alan was convinced to get up and play keys for a while. A grand time was had by all!

The Pop Rocks played a wedding reception on April 5th at the Holiday Inn Downtown in Lincoln.

A grand time was had by all, as evidenced by these photo's of the event.

The Pop Rocks played P. O. Pears for the last time on February 22nd and 23rd and had a really good time.

Too bad Pears is closing down, ostensibly forever, so I don't think They (or anyone else) will be playing there again.

Here are some pictures from this final weekend:

Well, The Pop Rocks guys have been busy. Monday, November 12th they played for the party after a meeting of Nebraska country club managers at the Country Club of Lincoln. This was a good chance for The Pop Rocks to show a lot of potential employers just how well suited they are to playing for a wide ranging audience.

Tony Hillhouse and one of the guys from Wayward

Wayward is made up of four guys in their late teens, and they are a pretty good alternative/grunge/metal band. They played a set of five songs after the first set by The Pop Rocks.

The Pop Rocks finished out the night and lots of fun was had by the remaining audience members.

There were some outstanding costumes.

This couple was going for the 'Grease' look, but I think they would have done better by calling themselves Charlie [Starkweather] and Carol [Fugate]

Ed Wyatt Emcee'd the costume contest. Runners up included Hugh Hefner and his bunnies, this young lady in her negligee:

and Frankenstein's Monster- over 7 feet tall!:

The winner, however was Miss Piggy.
