Pat McKeen was
born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska. Coming from a creative family, he
was drawn to music at an early age, and has spent most of his life playing
guitar and keyboards with local bands for fun and profit. Pat didn't get
involved with graphic art until just a few years ago, when at the urging
of his wife Kathleen Liggett he sat down to see if he could draw a pencil
sketch of his oldest grandson. Much to his surprise and delight, the result
was surprisingly good. He focused on pencil portraits of family members
for about a year before branching out into other media.

Thanks to his and his wife's affiliation with
the Lincoln Artists'
Guild (she is past president, he is past v.p.),
Pat has been able to draw on the experience of his talented wife and many
other fine artists for help, critiques, reference materials, and encouragement.
For the past few years Pat has entered pieces in the Nebraska State Fair
fine arts competition and won several awards.

Pat specializes in pencil portraits, but also
works in oil and acrylic, with animals a favorite subject. He also prides
himself on being able to capture an excellent likeness of his human or four
footed subject in his realistic work. Some of his recent pieces lean toward
surrealism, such
as:
Those Damned Scissors

and more traditional pieces:
